Since
the 1970, the Biscottificio Fuggetta is specialized
in the production and distribution of oven products,
maintaining old folk traditions in order to assure
quality and good taste.
The entire business started by pure chance. In the
'60s, the Fuggetta family was living in the back of
their food store. One day, Michela Fuggetta prepared
a tomato pizza for her children. The scent so tantalized
the customers in the shop, that they wanted to buy,
and so they did, notwithstanding the reluctance of
Mrs. Fuggetta to sell.
From
that moment on, the word spread, and the activity
took off: as the demand for pizzas increased, the
production capacity increased and improved. Also the
range of products was enlarged: from pizza only to
scaldatelli; from biscuits produced
during Christmas and Easter only, to the production
of them the year long.
At
the present, in the homey and yet modern laboratory,
the hand made production includes scaldatelli, almond
ravioli, quaresimali, milk biscuits and many varieties
of pizzas and focaccia.
A visit to the historic center of Lavello,
a centuries old town in Southern Italy,
allows one to "follow the smell"
